What your nervous system smells
Because Terra speaks the same molecular language as the forest itself.
That forest air has a calming effect is not imaginary. The substances released by a coniferous forest — terpenes, known in research as phytoncides — have been measured for decades. It is precisely these families of molecules that form the framework of Terra.
The Swiss pine is the most well-known example: In a study by Joanneum Research (2003), subjects slept in a Swiss pine bed with a measurably lower heart rate. The bergamot in the opening brings linalool and limonene — those notes that clear the mind without appearing flat.
The forest doesn't reach you through your eyes. It reaches you through your nose.
